Making a #GTA Google Teacher Academy Video

I put a lot of thought into making my Google Teacher Academy video. I watched a variety of other videos from previous attendees to try to get an idea of what to put in mine. Many recommended to make sure to show yourself. Apparently a lot of people show their class and/or a lot of writing about what they like to do, but few people show pictures of themselves doing things in the classroom, and that is what some reviewers are looking for (or so I have been told).

I collected pictures of myself in the classroom, in front of the kids, presenting at conferences, working on tech projects, and more, for months. It took a lot of planning to end up with the video you see here, however, the actual making of the video itself took only a few hours one day, with the help of my phone and Camtasia.

Camtasia by Techsmith offers a free month trial. I downloaded it and added all the video clips and the music (which I recorded myself or made on UJAM) just using the free trial. It is very user-friendly, with drag and drop controls. Then, I propped my phone up on a book and recorded the initial few seconds where I am drawing on the paper. All in all, it took just a few hours to make months worth of collecting look good.

Then I submitted it. And got in. So, I offer you here my video, which I made and which was successful, as I attended #GTASEA 2014 in Manila, Philippines.
